Barbara E Shepard frequently works to
commission and has created artworks for both public and private organisations
as well as for private individuals.
She has worked as artist in
residence, as well as steering community projects. Some projects were
commissioned by public bodies i.e.: councils, schools, museums etc., and
include production of large scale murals at: Ashton House Women’s
Hostel, Burford Assessment Centre, Carlton Bolling
College, St Helen’s
Junior and Infant School, and a play bus for St Johns’ Ward, Halifax.
Other commissions of this
kind included poster design with a group of teenage mothers and mothers to be,
and a celebratory millennium a project for Hull Waterways Museum to created a
photographic and painted record of a boat journey around part of the UK.
In a different vein she was
commissioned to create a collection 11 individual costume illustrations for an
education project at Nottingham Museum.
Private commissions include
a large scale mural in a shopping centre at Walkley’s
Clogs Factory Shopping Centre. Others include portrait commissions in charcoal,
pastels and oil paint; charcoal drawings and pastels of buildings and scenery;
and pen and ink illustrations for a book.

Portraits can be commissioned as
charcoal drawing, pastels or in oil on canvas.
Portraits can be created from your existing photographs or from
photographs made by the artist or directly from live sittings.
Landscapes
and architectural works
may be commissioned as charcoal drawings, pen and ink illustrations and as
coloured pastel works. These can be created from photographs or directly from
life. It is also possible to commission works including large scale pieces in
oil on canvas or acrylic, created from either from live studies or photographs.
